 | Guillermo del Toro picks The Haunted MansionAfter halting work on his version of The Hobbit due to numerous delays, Guillermo del Toro (Pan's Labyrinth, Hellboy) has announced that he'll co-write and produce a movie adaptation of The Haunted Mansion, based on Disneyland's famous attraction. Del Toro announced his plans at Comicon in San Diego. The director said he would be transforming the classic ride into a horror movie. "Dark imagery is an integral part of the Walt disney legacy," said Del Toro at Disney's Tron Legacy panel. " After all, Disney himself was the father of some really chilling moments and characters-think Chernabog from Fantasia or Maleficent as the Dragon orthe Evil Queen in Snow White," he continued. I couldn't be more excited to be a part of my own adaptation of the original theme park attraction Walt envisioned and that remains-for me-the most desirable piece of real estate in the whole world!" The chairman of Disney studios, Rich Ross, says he admires the director, and that he's thrilled to be working with Del Toro. Del Toro hasn't announced whether he'll shoot Haunted Mansion in 3D, not has he disclosed any more details of the deal. [ More Showbiz ] |
